Apple Working on Smart Glasses Powered by Apple Intelligence

The Apple smart glasses dream is not over yet. Although earlier reports suggested Apple had canceled its ambitious augmented reality (AR) glasses, new information says otherwise. Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg confirms the company is still developing a form of smart glasses.

These glasses will differ from the original AR concept. Instead of offering full augmented reality, they will focus on tech-assisted features. Gurman compared them to Meta’s Ray-Ban collaboration, where technology supports but does not dominate the experience.

Importantly, the upcoming Apple smart glasses will be powered by Apple Intelligence. Gurman stated the glasses could analyze the surrounding environment and feed useful information to the wearer. However, how deeply they can interact with the real world remains unclear.

Unlike Meta’s version, which emphasizes photography and live streaming, Apple is cautious. The company reportedly has not decided whether to allow photography through the glasses. Privacy concerns seem to be a major reason for this hesitancy.

Even with progress, a launch remains years away. Apple is known for scrapping projects or delaying them until the technology is mature enough. Therefore, while work continues, it is uncertain when or even if these smart glasses will hit the market.

Nevertheless, the Apple smart glasses could reshape the smart eyewear landscape if they succeed. Companies like Meta and Snap are already active, but Apple’s entry would likely set a new standard.

In the meantime, the idea of blending Apple Intelligence with wearable tech keeps excitement high. Although cautious, Apple’s ongoing efforts prove that innovation in personal technology is far from slowing down.
