WP Engine Acquires Big Bite to Strengthen WordPress Enterprise Solutions

WP Engine acquires Big Bite, a long-time partner agency, in a strategic move to enhance its internal publishing expertise for media and enterprise clients. The acquisition consolidates Big Bite’s engineers directly into WP Engine’s development team, ending the agency’s independent client services.

Big Bite, known for over a decade of creating newsroom platforms, editorial workflows, and custom publishing tools, has worked with major newspapers and tech publications globally. The merger allows WP Engine to focus on refining publishing products internally rather than relying on external agency support.

Engineering Talent Moves In-House

Under the deal, Big Bite’s team will integrate into WP Engine’s engineering organization. Their focus will shift to building innovative WordPress publishing solutions that improve content creation, organization, and workflow optimization for enterprise customers and partner agencies.

“Today’s acquisition advances WP Engine’s commitment to serve publishers with products that enable them to efficiently create, organize, and share content,” said Ramadass Prabhakar, CTO at WP Engine.

Strengthening WordPress Offerings for Media

WP Engine has positioned itself as a premium provider within the WordPress ecosystem, offering managed hosting and support for high-traffic publishers. By absorbing Big Bite’s expertise, the company aims to solidify its solutions for media organizations with complex editorial needs.

Jason Agnew, Big Bite CTO and co-founder, added: “By uniting our engineering strengths, we can provide even greater value to WP Engine’s agency partners looking to elevate publishing capabilities.”
