Notion Unveils AI Meeting Transcription Tool to Boost Productivity
Notion has officially entered the competitive world of AI-powered meeting transcription tools. The popular productivity platform has introduced a new feature that captures and summarizes meeting conversations, setting its sights on rivals like Granola, Otter, Circleback, and even Zoom’s own AI assistant.
This fresh capability allows users to transcribe meetings in real-time and auto-generate summaries afterward—streamlining collaboration for individuals and teams. Users can even take manual notes while the AI records in the background, offering flexibility similar to Granola.
Initially available on Mac desktop (version 4.7.0), Notion’s transcription tool listens to system audio and processes it into organized notes. Although currently limited to desktop, mobile support is reportedly on the way. Getting started is simple: just type “/meet” on any Notion page to launch the tool.
To ensure ethical use, Notion requires participants’ consent before transcription begins. Once approved, the AI kicks in and provides a structured summary after the meeting ends. Users can choose from tailored formats like “Sales Call,” “Team Meeting,” or “Standup” via a formatting menu.
In a move to attract global users, the feature supports over a dozen languages, including English, Mandarin, Spanish, French, Japanese, and more.
But transcription isn’t the only enterprise-focused update. Notion also launched Enterprise Search—enabling users to search across Notion and third-party apps—and Research Mode, which uses advanced AI models to assist in document creation and knowledge gathering.
These additions follow other AI-driven releases from Notion, such as its AI-powered Gmail email client and Notion Calendar, positioning the company as a rising competitor to giants like Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
With its latest moves, Notion is evolving beyond its roots in note-taking, building a comprehensive ecosystem for modern work powered by artificial intelligence.
