Adobe Launches Photoshop Beta for Android Users with Free Tools and AI Features
Android users can finally get hands-on with Photoshop on mobile. Adobe has officially released the beta version of its Photoshop app on Android, just four months after its debut on iPhone.
Now available for download, the Android app brings powerful editing capabilities similar to the desktop version. It’s tailored for mobile use, offering a range of creative tools like layers, masks, blend modes, and adjustment layers—completely free during the beta phase.
What You Can Do with Photoshop on Android
The app allows users to:
- Combine and edit images with layers and masking tools
- Use AI-powered features such as Generative Fill for adding or transforming image elements
- Instantly remove or replace objects using the Tap Select tool
- Access a selection of free Adobe Stock assets
- Remove imperfections with the Spot Healing Brush, Clone Stamp, and Remove tools
- Perform precise selections using Object Select and Magic Wand features
These features make the app especially appealing to mobile-first creators, including younger users who rely on smartphones for design and content creation.
Device Requirements and Future Updates
The beta is compatible with devices running Android 11 or newer and requires at least 6GB of RAM—though Adobe recommends 8GB for smoother performance.
Adobe also plans to introduce more advanced features in future updates. Unlike the iPhone version, which includes both free and paid tiers and integrates with Photoshop on the web, it’s still unclear when these premium integrations will come to Android.
By launching Photoshop on Android, Adobe is aiming to expand its reach and make professional-grade editing more accessible—anytime, anywhere, right from your phone.
